Awards and Judge Comments

Vibrant, healthy tank. It looks like your original idea was a central "mound" shaped aquascape. Your design in that area is quite good. However, as you found, long, shallow tanks can be an aquascaping challenge, and your central design felt a little lonely there in the middle. The stem plants on either end look like afterthoughts. They have not had time to grow in or to be trimmed into shape. Your groundcover is mostly lovely, though there are a few patches that still need to grow in a bit more.

Interesting wood selection and composition but I find the groups of stem plants do little to balance the whole layout.

A grassy knoll of artful balance and compelling lines. The graceful arch of the horizontal branch is a very powerful focal point. I can't help but think, though, that something more could have been done to tie the centerpiece to its extremities.
