Additional Information I first learned of "crystalinos", or wide open vistas of clear water in an otherwise murky river, in "The Natural Aquarium" by Satoshi Yoshino and Doshin Kobayashi. They can occur due to the confluence of a pair of rivers bearing different tannin concentrations, for example. Such merges result in a convergence of not merely fluid, but flora and fauna as well, much as you see in this aquarium, with its wide variety of species. (Videos of this and other aquaria will be available at https://www.youtube.com/user/dangerousfishbowl/videos )
