#690: 126L Dutch Aquascape Heaven's Garden

Comments

Great to see people using moss walls - this is a classic Dutch styling technique that I wish more embraced. A 60 cm tank should have no more than 6 to 8 species of plants. Red plant in the geometric center and the Hydrocotyle in front of it creates too much symmetry - there is an unintended but perfectly formed triangle in the front of the tank with these two species. While it may not be immediately obvious the subconscious mind picks up on these powerful cues of symmetry and makes it hard for the eye to focus on other beautiful styling elements. Hide equipment.

Even though the amount of plants is triple of the general Dutch Style guideline of 1 plant per 10cm it does not right away give you that impression. However the midsection with the bright deep red plants is one example of how putting too many plants in makes you lose the contrasts.
