This set up is a little over two years old, but has been re-arranged three or four times. The Java fern, Samolous parviflorus, and Alternanthera have been in the tank since it was first set up. The Samolous parviflorus has reproduced new plants four times while it has been growing, from stems developing in the center of the crown. The java fern has also reproduced several times, and all of the visible plants currently are third generation or higher grown from larger decaying leaves.
