#92: 396L Biotope Aquascape Pavimento

Pedro Borges Lisbon, Portugal

Comments

Once the cubed rocks are covered this will be a good looking aquarium. No doubt the rocks will give an interesting texture to the aquascape when the Anubias cover them right now they look very un-natural and out of place. The plants are well chosen to represent a very broad African based aquascape. However they come from such different sections of the continent as to be totally foreign for practical purposes.

The stone arrangement is a definite distraction. It’s just too symmetrical to be natural not to say that there isn't symmetry in nature. I think I can visualize to a degree what was intended here but the execution of the "mind's eye" layout with the reality of what lies before us doesn't match up.

It looks artificial. Arrangement of Anubias sp. looks monotonous. It could be better layout if the plants were arranged more artistically.

While these plants and animals come from Africa they are from vastly different areas of a large continent. The stones are squared off and un-natural looking and the tank looks like it was put together quite recently. The tank is clean and bright and looks well maintained but it is a real stretch to call it a biotope.
