Comments

Very interesting combination of a paludarium/biotope representing the habitat of the Profundulus that were rescued. With a bit more maturation of the moss to hide some of the material used for the build the upper portion would be improved quite a bit. Great job!

Materials This paludarium was built with materials of different and varied streams of my community: San Lorenzo Cacaotepec, although it seems a biotope is not in the strict sense for this reason. The composition consists of rocks of different types, mainly sedimentary metamorphic, arranged in a pyramid shape, glued with silicone on sponge, to reduce weight and volume, this allowed to form terraces where natural nutritional substrate (bush) was placed, where they planted the plants, which come from crops from wild specimens in the aquatic part there are some plants and thousands of oak leaves. Its name refers to the projection generates a giant rock, which has been vigilant in aquatic environments of my community and that is awakening to show humans the beauty and importance of portege all ecosystems.
Additional Information The paludarium is more artistic, is displayed next to a real biotope in an aquatic gallery of my community, which aims to show the human population species of flora and fauna that live in our rivers and streams, raise awareness man's impact on them, seek their revaluation, protection and rational use. This work is part of the continuity of the previous year, the rescue of endemic fish at risk: Profundulus oaxacae, which inhabits this paludarium on display to contain elements of their habitat and the like, although not a strict biotope we have therefore decided enroll as it is, as natural paludarium possible but with some artistic design.
