Additional Information I was greatly inspired by the Dutch and Flemish school of landscape painters like Jacob van Ruisdael, Roelandt Savery et al. and the way they create a sense of drama through deep shadows and bright highlights. I wanted to try to achieve this painterly style. For photographing the tank I used 12 independent lights of varying kelvin (warm, cold, daylight) to highlight areas and force shadows in an attempt to capture the mysterious, romantic feeling of this style.
