Awards and Comments

Honorable Mention
This is a well-conceived composition and an
eye-catching presentation. The entry would be
improved with some careful trimming. The big
stand of R. rotundifolia looks much better
against a dark background.
— Roger Miller
Amazingly well balanced mini scape with vigorous
growth depth of space and natural flow.
Plant selection very appealing. Guppies may lead
to overpopulation. Minor drawback: unpleasing tank
frames!
— Detlef Hupfeld
A lush garden but not enough definition between plants. The moss has spread a little too wildly for my tastes
— Chuck Gadd

I always enjoy creating small aquascape since living space is limited here in Hong Kong and it's not easy to afford a large space to accommodate a big tank. Although the size of the tank is small, I tried to create a spacious look by planting Glossostigma elatinoides in vast area of the layout, with the taller plants planted at the corner behind the driftwood to create a "Hillside" appearance.
I entered the 2002 ADA International Aquascaping Contest with this layout and was lucky enough to be placed at the top 500 among all the entries from all over the world.
