#602: 96L Dutch Aquascape Radiant Meadows

At first sight the plants look very healthy.
The first thing I see is the group of Hydrocotyle tripartita mini going in a straight line to the back.
The Crypt. wendtii brown is almost invisible in front of the Pearl weed.
It would be nice to make the Hydrocotyle grow in an angle disappearing where the Crypto grows now.
Al the plant6groups in the backgroud touch each other. Give the a little bit space in between.
Fishes are okay.
Technology well hidden and out of sight.

This is a small tank that feels big due to the choice of plants. The plant selection makes me (almost) overlook that there are too many species here. I am prevented from enjoying the view for long by the severely stunted Ammannia pedicellata and the red plant right in the middle of the tank. The two bushes in the center-right are trimmed like show poodles and that makes it draw the eye like a magnet at the cost of flow and harmony. In Dutch style never go for rare and difficult - always go for easy and effective. Never put a bright red plant in the center - this divides the tank. The red on red - crypt in front of the red Ludwigia - works against you. So does the highly similar-leaved Hydrocotyle and Pearl weed. I like that you have curtain plants but try not to use Vals for both curtains.

In this scape it is clear to see how 1 group placement can kill the overall impression. The tripartata group is focused on centre not contrasting the plants left and right and the straight line on the group looks totally out of place with the rest of the groups. THat is pitty because this scape and the skills of the owner truly show potential.
