Several elements of good design are present. They're just not in the right spots.
The rocks could have played a greater role in separating the two mounds. The hint of color in the far left corner could have been brought forward and to the center to add some pop to the focal point.
The two equal-sized mounds layout has become I think a bit hackneyed. Some creative adjustments to this layout could make for a more satisfying viewing.
